Students currently entering Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) belong to Generation Z, characterized by intense exposure to technology since childhood and by behaviors and expectations shaped by the digital context. In this scenario, this study, with a quantitative and exploratory-descriptive approach, aimed to identify the characteristics attributed to a good teacher, according to the perception of students enrolled in Social Sciences programs. The research instrument was based on previous studies and encompassed dimensions related to knowledge, teaching methodology, and teacher behavior. Data were collected through an electronic questionnaire distributed via WhatsApp groups, resulting in 63 responses, corresponding to approximately 12% of the target population. The results indicate that the most valued characteristics among students are the ability to explain clearly, theoretical mastery, respectfulness, friendliness, and the ability to stimulate interest. Although traditional attributes such as knowledge and teaching skills remain central, Generation Z students particularly value the quality of interpersonal relationships and the integration between theory and practice in the teaching-learning process. Furthermore, the findings highlight a growing expectation for the incorporation of technology and for more approachable and horizontal teacher attitudes, emphasizing the need to adapt pedagogical practices to the demands of this new Generation.
